I had to post this for you to read if you'd like. I thought it was interesting. True, its only a start, but at least they are starting to see that men and women are different.

Re: Interesting study findings
Wed, January 25, 2006 - 10:25 AMHmmm yes a start>>>>
I'll add that I think I learned at some point that a drinking mother was less likely to be focused on me in anger so opening or mixing drinks for her possibly kept her happy & pre-occupied from abusing me either physically or verbally; though of course verbal was more likely to continue.
Also drinking young added to her fantasy of me being a companion/maid service rather than daughter????
& since she could 'out drink' me she voiced how better she was then me :{{{{
Yeah sure mom now just pass out for awhile~~~~~~~~~~
Also hidden abuses not yet spoken of to another: Drinking to forget abuse & unhappiness,drinking to fit in with Somebody, anybody (small towns in the 60s still had the bad divorcee other side of the tracks labels that prevented good girls from being allowed to hang out with me & in that type of atmosphere you slide down the good factors not knowing quite why). I don't know about boys but I think girls can get the image that they're tougher & don't care what other people think, though of course it is a superficial attempt at protection of a battered ego/esteem {
